Why Tarzan doesn't have a beard?

Why Tarzan doesn't have a beard?

Heard many folks asking this question on several occasions. The simple answer found on net:
"Because he shaves it off." :-)

The images of the fictional character Tarzan, like all fictional characters, are a product of their age. The fashion when Tarzan comics and movies were popular was for men to be clean-shaven.According to the Tarzan novels written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, he learned to shave using his father's knife he found in his parent's cabin.

Edgar Rice Burroughs (September 1, 1875 – March 19, 1950) was an American author, best known for his creation of the jungle hero Tarzan and the heroic Mars adventurer John Carter, although he produced works in many genres.
